About ReadingRocket

ReadingRocket is a free online reading program for children ages 3–8. Every lesson is built on the Science of Reading: systematic phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

The program is intentionally simple. Open a page. Read a lesson. Play a challenge. Close the tab. There is no sign-up, no login, no dashboard, no downloads, and no data collected. Every lesson stands on its own — and the 300 lessons together form a complete curriculum from letter A to fluent reading.

How to use it

• Sit with your child for 10–15 minutes.
• Read the parent intro together, then work through each section aloud.
• Tap words in the phonics warm-up to see them stretched by sound.
• Answer the comprehension questions and try the fun challenge.
• Come back tomorrow and continue with the next lesson.

The five levels

1. Pre-Reader — alphabet, letter sounds, phonemic awareness.
2. Beginner Reader — CVC word families, sight words, sentence building.
3. Early Reader — blends, digraphs, silent E, fluency.
4. Developing Reader — long vowels, vowel teams, r-controlled vowels.
5. Confident Reader — multi-syllable words, vocabulary, STEM stories.
